At Honeymoon and Wedding Travel we fully support the rights of gay and lesbian
couples to marry and have the same rights to the destination weddings and
honeymoons that opposite sex couples enjoy.   With new laws in California,
Connecticut, and Massachusetts allowing same-sex couples from out of state to marry
we hope to plan more destination same-sex weddings than ever.  Honeymoons and
destination weddings are not the only types of LGBT travel we can assist with though.
Travel for any occasion, including gay and lesbian only cruises and tours, are available
for your enjoyment.  We can advise on the places that are gay-friendly and which
places you may want to avoid due to local laws and mores.  Please read our FAQ for
more information about LGBT travel below and contact us for more information.

         LGBT TRAVEL FAQ

We are a gay couple and want to get married.  Where can I get married?
If you want to get legally married and do not have residency in a place that allows same
sex marriage, your current options include Canada, California, Connecticut and
Massachusetts.  These places do not require residency to issue a marriage certificate
while others do.  It is possible that when Norway begins issuing same-sex marriage
certificates in 2009, they will allow non-resident marriages.  We can offer options for
symbolic wedding ceremonies around the world.

Will my marriage be legally recognized?
It depends.  In the US, New Mexico, New York, and Rhode Island as well as California,
Connecticut, and Massachusetts recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere.
In states that recognize same sex unions, a gay marriage from outside the state may be
recognized as a same sex union.

If I want to have a commitment ceremony/ symbolic wedding in the Caribbean
what are my options?
Two options in the Caribbean you'll want to investigate are Aruba and Puerto Rico.
Both of these islands offer hotels that explicitly market gay and lesbian commitment
ceremonies.  St. Martaan, the US Virgin Islands, and Netherlands Antilles are generally
considered to be "gay friendly" but do not offer specific commitment ceremony
packages.

What are my options if I want to stay at a couples all-inclusive resort?
The most famous couples only resorts, Sandals, opened up their resorts to same-sex
couples in 2004.  Otherwise, you may want to consider an adults only resort such as
Excellence, El Dorado, or some Palace properties.

I've heard that Disney allows same-sex marriages.  Is this true?
Disney has always shown a commitment to be inclusive of guests of all lifestyles and in
2007, Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California began allowing same-sex
couples to marry through their Fairy Tale Wedding program.  Regardless of whether or
not the ceremony is legal in your home area, Disney will allow you to utilize their
packages.

What are some options for gay-only trips?
We can arrange trips that are LGBT only including LGBT only resorts, cruises, and
tours.  Atlantis Events offers male only gay cruises and two Mexican resorts.  Lesbian
only resorts can be found everywhere from the White Mountains of New Hampshire to
the beaches of the Florida Keys.  There are also a number of chartered cruises
available for gays and lesbians.  Finally, we do offer packages for gay pride events.  If
you interested in any of these packages, please
